Woman Tutoring Child

About

The Full Story

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to helping others grow — whether it was guiding a child through their first letter lesson (my younger cousin when I was eight) or supporting a mom trying to find herself again. At every stage of my career, one thing has stayed the same: I love helping people believe in themselves and find their way forward.

Knowing my love for teaching and helping  others I earned a bachelor's degree in Educational Studies and Psychology from Emory University in 2008. After that I immediately enrolled in NYU graduate school and earned a master's degree in early childhood and special education in 2010.

My professional work began in education. I taught general education and special education in public schools in the DC area for eight years. Teaching 20+ students was HARD. I always preferred working in small groups or one-on-one and following the students' lead instead of some silly curriculum mandated by a bunch of rich white men who had never taught in a classroom. It felt misaligned with my goal to help as many kids as I could to build deep confidence, curiosity, and joy.

That’s how Happy Minds Tutoring began where I can meet kids exactly where they are and help them reach that manageable next step one at a time. I remind them that every person is good and some things and not so good at other things. We celebrate their strengths and wins together so that when something gets hard they have the confidence and resilience to keep trying.

Over time, I realized that the same kind of transformation kids experienced through tutoring was just as needed for kids outside of academics and for adults — especially for moms who felt stretched thin or unsure of their next step. Moms who felt like they were failing in a world NOT made to help us thrive. That realization led me to expand into life coaching. I have over two decades of experience supporting families. I have extensive training in emotional regulation, mindset practices, and nervous system calming. I blend coaching, education, and real-life tools to help working moms feel grounded, steady, and supported. Everything I teach is practical, gentle, and backed by both research and lived experience. I now also work with individuals and small groups to help them reconnect with themselves, get clear on their priorities, and take practical, soul-aligned steps toward balance, fulfillment, and joy.

Alongside all of this, I discovered Reiki — a beautiful, gentle energy practice that deepened my own healing journey. It offered me calm, clarity, and a renewed sense of peace that I wanted to share with others. I completed Reiki Levels One and Two, got attuned in the Usui Reiki Lineage, and became a Reiki Practitioner. Now, through relaxing and rejuvenating Reiki sessions, I help clients release what no longer serves them, rebalance their energy, and reconnect with the light within.

Each of these paths — teaching, coaching, and energy work — may seem different on the surface, but to me they’re all part of the same story: helping people find clarity, confidence, and joy in their own unique journey. Whether I’m working with a child or a mom, my approach is always grounded in kindness, curiosity, and the belief that growth can be both gentle and fun.
